This idea started as a bit of a joke—someone said “spirit of Merdeka,” and someone else blurted out “Merdeka Spirits”… and suddenly we were off on a weird (but wonderful) creative rabbit hole.

We were laughing at the thought of actual spirits—like, ghostly apparitions in baju Melayu and Saree—floating in and going, “Hey! Remember unity? Togetherness? That whole Merdeka thing?” It was funny, but also real. Over the years, the spirit of Merdeka has felt like it's fading, and we wanted to bring it back in a way that was unexpected but meaningful.

So we turned the idea into a playful yet powerful—ghosts of Merdeka past returning to haunt us (gently) with reminders of what unity used to feel like. Equal parts funny, spooky, and strangely heartwarming.
